José Javier Berrocal Olmeda is Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Systems and Telematics Engineering at the University of Extremadura (UEx).
His research career focuses on Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing, Edge Computing, and People-Oriented Software Engineering (Human-Driven SE). He is a prominent member of the international community, currently serving as Director of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
In his management role, he leads the digitalization strategy of the University of Extremadura, driving the adoption of new technologies in teaching and administration. He has been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award (2022) and has an extensive scientific production in high-impact (JCR) journals.
