Álvaro Prieto Ramos holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering and is an Associate Professor in the area of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Extremadura (UEx). His teaching work has been consistently recognized in the DOCENTIA program with the rating of “Outstanding Professor” and several Teaching Excellence awards.

His research interests have evolved from the study of Ontologies and the Semantic Web towards Model-Driven Engineering (MDD) and, more recently, Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. As a researcher, he has led and participated in numerous competitive projects and agreements with companies, being the author of over 40 publications in impact journals and conference proceedings. He stands out for his technology transfer work, having been a co-founder of the spin-off MetrikaMedia S.L., which applies Artificial Intelligence techniques in the audiovisual sector. He has also participated in the development of social impact solutions, such as predictive analytics models for employment and the Cáceres Open Data Portal.

He combines his academic work with Institutional Management as Director of Electronic Administration at UEx since 2023, where he has overseen the launch of its Electronic Office and currently coordinates its evolution and scaling.
